They need to express who they are in their own way. This is extremely important so that you will be able to set the foundation for good communication later on. If you just tell your child what you want him or her to do, without giving him/her the opportunity to talk to you, they will grow to think that talking to you is useless. Remember, you are building a foundation.
5. Lastly, make it a point to spend time with your children, even when they are no longer young. You only get to parent young children for a short time before you let them go to take their journey exploring the world. Through spending a lot of quality time with your children, you will be able to make sure that you are able to teach everything that they need to know, including the skills and values, which would be necessary for them to grow up into the best adults they can be.
