The trend towards online marketing has seen enormous growth in the past few years. The social media landscape has forever been changed by the success of sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Most major retailers maintain a presence on both of these social networking sites but in 2011 the mission must be to continue to define how these sites can work to increase sales revenue.

In essence they have already defined themselves as having an interest in your products and services. Now the big question is what can a company do with this already established audience? Beyond capturing their attention the task must be to engage them in such a way as to inspire them to buy more products or services.

The popularity of the iPhone and subsequent smart phones has made it possible for companies to reach their customer base just about anywhere. No longer do marketing campaigns have to wait for the potential customer to discover their ads. The ads can be delivered directly to the customer no matter where he or she is located. The growth is this medium is expected to continue with mobile websites, email and apps becoming more prevalent as marketing tools.

Remember in the early days of the internet when you revisited a favourite website and it welcomed you back by name. The technology that makes that possible is called a cookie, a cookie is a bit of code placed in your computer that is later read by the browser. The earliest cookies were somewhat crude, but they have evolved over the years and now can perform user profiling, tracking and modelling which is used to maximize the effectiveness of advertising. Google employs this technique to try and serve users ads that match their browsing history, page viewing, and ad clicks. This technology is also now being introduced for mobile devices and social media sites.

Search Engine Optimization will be more important than ever

SEO tactics will become more complex as other search engines become more competitive. The formula for one search engine does not necessarily work for others, therefore companies that want to remain at the top of search results, where they get the most visibility, will have to figure out new optimization strategies to maximize their SEO techniques. Overall the online marketing budgets for companies will continue to increase for anyone who wants to remain competitive in the next few years.

Well-executed design combined with solid, reliable performance make this Bosch belt sander a tool with noticeable performance advantages. The Bosch features a magnesium-and-plastic housing that's lightweight yet durable. The tool is nicely balanced, comfortable, and easy to operate--important features in a tool that's often used for long periods of time for removing large amounts of stock. The Bosch comes with a cast-aluminum platen--so there's none of the warping that affects stamped-steel platens--and it sands perfectly flat right out of the box. Like many of the sanders in this class, the motor on the 1274 is aligned with the belt edge to allow flush sanding into corners. The tool's only drawback is that visibility is limited when sanding into tight corners, but that's a small minus when weighed against all the pluses. The belt-changing system works well--we didn't suffer any spring pinches--and the tracking adjustment tracks the new belt quickly and keeps it in place. There's a variable-speed dial built right into the trigger switch, which makes adjusting the belt speed fast and convenient. Wood magazine tested 10 3-by-21-inch sanders and liked the 1274DVS best.
